The main restaurant of Kurotetsuya is a unique space where you can enjoy fresh Aizu horse sashimi in eight types of exclusive, rare cuts. It is difficult to find such exquisite-tasting meat in Tokyo. Kurotetsuya deals with Fukushima’s high‐quality sake brands only. The young, energetic staff members have much to tell customers about Aizu’s attractiveness.
I was moved by the strong enthusiasm of the staff: “Compared with normal restaurants, they have a very strong sense of commitment (known as kodawari in Japanese).” Yukke (raw horse meat) offers an absolutely stunning taste. There are rare, limited cuts that can be procured only once a month (with reservations required). If you want to plunge deep into the world of horsemeat, just visit Kurotetsuya.
