About: Restaurant/shop Information
Genkai is a long-established (91 years since its foundation) restaurant for mizutaki (an unthickened stew of chicken cooked on the table). Exquisite Mizutaki was created through unique cooking methods making the best of the nature of Date Chicken—a solid, reliable taste established with the producer in Fukushima. Genkai is a perfect place for couples, and hospitality for entertainment opportunities as well as for Buddhist memorial services, Buddhist summons, rites, festivals, auspicious occasions, and anniversaries.
Genkai holds an event called Tori Hoyo (rites for chickens) which gives us opportunities to show appreciation for ingredients, as well as cherishing bonds with local communities, regular customers, and producers. In the midst of harmful rumors after the Great East Japan Earthquake, Genkai continued to explain the safety of prefectural products to customers who feel uneasy about such products. Producers also continued to supply rare ingredients to Genkai. Their strong bonds and passion are treasures of Genkai and Fukushima producers.
